Abstract

This research studies the immunities and privileges for honorary consuls by analytical method, because The Consular work is considered one of the means used by countries to practice international relations among them, especially trade and economic relations. There are different types of consuls mentioned in the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963, but in general they can be classified into two types of consuls, the official consul and Honorary Consul Countries usually used the honorary consul system in order to reduce the expenses, and The countries choose the honorary consul from the citizens of that country in which they want to open their consulate mission, or from the citizens of the third country but reside in the country in which they want to open their consulate mission The Honorary Consul has immunities and privileges that enable him to conduct his work as required. These immunities and privileges are mentioned in the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963 This research aims to study consular work and its relationship to diplomatic work, study the types of consuls, Honorary Consul Concept, and studying the immunities and privileges of the Honorary Consul. All this to reach the conclusions of the research conclusion, which can be summarized in that consular work is historically older than diplomatic work and there are two types of consuls, official consuls and honorary consuls Because of the absence of a definition of honorary consul by the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963, he was defined jurisprudentially Consuls generally have immunities and privileges that are mentioned in the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963, but not all of these consular immunities and privileges apply to the honorary consul
